Spring into action, with a weekend of Hill Walking in the glorious Mountains of Mayo & Connemara, with superb views of the Wild Atlantic Way. Meet new people, enjoy the chat and some of the best views in the country – on a weekend that is a must for the outdoor enthusiast.
Ideal for singles, but also great craic for couples and groups, the Easter Bank Holiday Walking Weekend is led by one of Ireland’s best known walking guides Gerry Greensmyth of Croagh Patrick Walking Tours. The intended walks require a certain level of fitness , but the sense of achievement as you enjoy the view from the mountain top, and later as you settle into one of Westport’s legendary pubs, will be second to none.

There will be an annual Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. You’ll look high and low for clues to enter to win some great prizes while enjoying the gorgeous grounds of Westport House & Gardens. Pinkie Rabbit will be back to help you celebrate the holiday and the first 300 children to complete the hunt will receive a complimentary egg. Every family that finishes will be entered to win some great prizes being awarded at 5:30pm. Be sure to get there early –it promises to be an egg-cellent day out for all the gang.
Opening for Easter mid-term break, Westport House & Pirate Adventure Park provides the ultimate in family fun. The Park is filled with attractions including water rides, slides, swinging ships, swan pedaloe boats, pitch and putt, tennis and table tennis, playgrounds and soft play. There are lots to satisfy those interested in history and culture in Westport House itself, it is a place not to be missed when visiting Westport. For the more adventurous there are other activities within the grounds such as zorbing, archery, orienteering, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, sailing and combat games. (These cost extra and are not included in the price of Admission)

In aid of Cystic Fibrosis – complete the 26 mile world famous Great Western Greenway – a picturesque walk/cycle trail which traverses Ireland’s idyllic Atlantic coast between Westport and Achill Sound.

Boheh Stone Walk

Immerse yourself in Mayo’s pre-historic culture, and come and view the Buheh Stone, a unique Neolithic feature. This guided walk, with local archaeologists, takes place twice yearly, in the spring and Autumn. The spectacular highlight (weather permitting) is seeing the ‘Rolling Sun’ phenomenon for yourself, as the sun appears to be slowly rolling down the slope of the mountain.

Westport Gran Fondo

Westport Gran Fondo is a one day cycling event and is the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland.
With 2 routes to choose from, you can race like a pro or just take it slow… you decide!
Westport Gran Fondo is taking place on Saturday 14th April with 2 exceptional routes catering for those who would like to Race Like a Pro ( Gran Fondo 122km) or taking in the breath taking scenery on a leisure cycle & give it a go ( Medio Fondo 70km) with your friends. Both events are chipped timed with winner‘s jersey’s up for grabs.
Following on from a very successful 2 years, Westport Gran Fondo is heading into Year 3 where an expected 1,000 cyclists will take part.
Westport Gran Fondo is the 1st Gran Fondo in the Republic and under the direction of our Race Director Paul O Brien this promises to be a fantastic sporting & social occasion.
122km – Difficult terrain which includes the iconic Sheffry climb and the beauty of Glassilaun and Tully Cross.
70km – Moderate terrain which includes the stunning Aasleagh Falls and the iconic Sheffry climb.
